First time in a mining fleet?
How to find the fleet....
Open the Map from the Neocom. When open - click on the 2nd cog wheel (top left) and scroll down to > Personal, and tick the box for 'My Fleet Members'.

Now on the Map - scroll out a bit and look for the red splodge showing where the fleet is. Right click on the red splodge and 'Set destination'...

If you're in the system already; - in the fleet window - right click on your wing commanders name - then warp to member at 20km :)
Mining Etiquette
Mine rocks that nobody else is mining, there's plenty to go around.
When a belt is running out, and all rocks are targeted then it's a free for all!
Oh, and don't forget to leave the rocks around the Orca/booster ship until last for the booster to mine!
Some basics...
Baiters
If someone is yellow flashy - you just ignore them, DO NOT ENGAGE!
Set safety to green in order to not accidentially attack baiters
Don't steal or destroy stuff
(other than NPC)
NEVER WARP TO AN ORCA AT ZERO !
ALWAYS AT RANGE=20km
(Boosting ships take ages to stop moving and can drift off the belt entirely if they get bumped!)
In Fleet Chat:
- Be nice
- Respect each other

Rock tip #1
Each Ore type has several variants, which have different names such as 'Azure' or 'Concentrated', etc. This indicates a slightly higher % yield than mining the base Ore.
Rock Tip #2
In the Overview, The Icon column shows a smal asteroid pic which indicates the following:
Small: Base yield
Medium: Base yield + 5%
Large: Base yield + 10%
Rock Tip #3
Working two rocks simultaneously prevents lost laser cycle time when a rock is about to run out.
i.e. as only one laser will yield what's left of the rock, the other laser wastes time and yields nothing.
Want to get the most out of your your time mining?
What's so good about being in a fleet?
Compression
Whilst in fleet and mining with a booster ship,
Right click on the Ore in your hold
Select Compress
Hey Presto!
Fleet Warp:
Normally the wing commander will warp all ships to the next belt at once. So don't be alarmed if you start warping for no reason.
If you don't want to come to the next belt - then [CTRL+Spacebar].
Fleet Setup

When mining in fleet, where there's lots of people out mining; the wing commander may decide to split the fleet into two groups. (Wings)

To see this is on your fleet window, click on the three dots (top right) and make sure the option is set for 'View Hierarchy' (if you can't see this option - you already have the correct setting!)

Now from the fleet list, check which group (wing) you're in

If you need to move to another belt where your wing commander is; - right click on the Wing Commander's name and warp to 20km.
Mining with a fleet of like minded people with years of combined experience can really help your journey, not least of course; that it adds a social element to the game!

Belt position

Press and hold [Q] button on Keyboard - this will place a circle around your ship.

Move your mouse and point to a position in the belt you want - and click once. (Distance) - still hold the [Q] button down...
Now the circle changes to show elevation - where you can choose a relative height - click a second time.

Now your ship will travel to the pinpoint you have selected - great for not bumping into Rocks all the time and moving away from the booster ship when you arrive on belt!

Autothysian Lancers

Don't attack them and they won't attack you! They typically scan ships for corpses and may attack if you have one on board - otherwise ignore them!

Waste Mechanics:
The reason for using only type A Mining Crystals is the waste mechanics.
Base waste in mining is 30%,

-
The A crystals waste 34% of the asteroids
-
B's waste 64%
-
C's waste 89%.
So we like to only use A crystals, this way there is more ore to collect in each asteroid
Is Jet-Can mining worth it?

A player can choose to jettison their cargo into a container that hangs in space. This is useful if your Ore hold fills up however; the jettisoned can (Jet-can / Can) can be opened by anyone and decays in about 2 hours.

When you move to a new belt and are waiting for a booster ship to turn on compression - this can be useful, otherwise though - is a higher risk approach as your mined ore can easily be stolen.
